The Chawosaurian Legislative Election in Canada of 1959 was held on December 31, 1959, in the middle of the 1959 legislative elections. This election was won by the Incumbent, Jonathan Lothian MacCarthy, a Liberal hold. MacCarthy defeated Jacob Potter. The main issue of this election of the Chum Famine of '59 in the Pacific Ocean, Jacob Potter's response was negative and said the government should not intervene, this backfired and led to MacCarthy winning reelection. The Chum Famine of '59 sparked widespread animal awareness, environmentalism, and a call for animal rights.
