The Chawosaurian Comrade Presidential Election of 1996 took place on December 31, 1996, between second-term incumbent President, Wawetseka Sequoia Eluwilussit and Progressive Republican Glasgow E. McCarthy.

Despite Sequoia's third decisive victory, Glasgow won the Industrial States of Vermont, Maine, Rhode Island, Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Wyoming, Idaho, and Utah, for his praise for the Industrial Workers, demand on High Tariffs on Multinational Corporations, and opposition to NAFTA and other Free Trade Agreements. Nearly lost Wisconsin, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Illinois, and all of New England.

Labor voters turned Republican and voted Republican between 1996, to 2007, and remained Democratic. Sequoia won heavily bigger than expected, she defeated McCarthy so good for a woman, the only reason why Sequoia won 1992 in a 48-2 state landslide was because that her previous Republican opponent was gay. With Glasgow McCarthy not like Garfield Mondale, a white heterosexual man, people thought McCarthy would be the one to unseat Sequoia, but on election night, Sequoia single-handily crushed McCarthy in a drastically bigger than expected landslide victory.
